I have an original Santa Barbara (#791 I think) I built in about
1975. It
is
absolutely original and stock as kitted by Vortex. I have sailed
it a few time in the
last
10 years at my cottage lake in western Michigan. Not competition,
just for-fun.
It
is probably time to release it to a good home as my interests have
moved on. Is there
any
interest on the part of any of your club members in the boat? It
is in mint condition and has
original
fittings, sails (yellow) and aluminum mast.
The
S/B has a yellow and white hull w/ blue pinstripping, yellow sails, 3
channel controls (rudder, main winch, trim for jib) as recommended in
Vortex manual. It has a Kraft
radio
in it which is out-of-date and on 71Mhz besides. But the Kraft
servos
are
good and
adaptable to any modern receiver. I am sorry I cant remember the
name
of the winch manufacture (but it is not a noisy Harris winch). It
is not a
proportional
winch. A servo controls a switch which controls the main winch.
The
boat is stored in Northern MI and I will be going up there middle of
May.
At
that time I can take a picture of the boat, maybe determine the winch
manuf.
and
get clear answers on any other questions anyone may have. As far
as price
I
don't have a clue at the moment, but will check around with some of the
clubs,
sail makers, etc. to come up with something. In the mean time I
will
entertain
offers. Although the boat is rigged and keel and rubber on it, I
have
the
original box. But if its going to go to Chicago I am sure we can
arrange
some
personal delivery or handoff midway.
This
is a beautiful boat with NO modification or hash work on it. All
rigging is original
Vortex
stainless steel, hatch cover is clear plastic from Vortex, and if I
look hard I can
even
come up with the build manual.
price $1,000
