The 2004 Santa Barbara National Championship was contested September 18&19, 2004 at Axehead Lake in Des Plaines, IL.  The host club for the event was the Chicago R/C Model Yacht Club (AMYA #07).  The weather was typical mid-west fall with mild temperatures, clear skies and fine sailing wind.  With the cooperation of the wind the fleet completed 16 races over the two days.  There were 13 entries including Class Secretary Jerry Dolis and 2003 champion Richard Frauenzimmer.

Special congratulations to Rich Frauenzimmer for his third place finish.  Rich used a walker to support his broken leg and recovered from having his sail rig eaten  by a tree just moments before the first race.
